Cosmetic procedures continue to be popular and prevalent within the United States. The incidence of surgical and minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures have both experienced an increasing demand.

In 2015, for example, 15.9 million of these procedures were performed in the United States alone. During 2015, $13.3 billion was spent on a variety of procedures which included hair loss treatments, breast lifts, and face lifts. This represented a 2% increase from similar procedures performed in 2014.

Hair Loss Treatments

There are approximately 35 million men and 21 million women that are experiencing hair loss in the United States. On a world-wide basis, however, only 811,363 are seeking professional treatment.

There are a variety of treatments available for hair loss. In addition to less-invasive procedures such as follicular unit transplantation and laser therapy, there other available solutions.

Botox Treatments

Given that the annual revenue within the botox industry averages nearly $25 billion, it is clear that many individuals seek these treatments for a variety of issues, including face lifts. Botox treatments tend to last 4 months, and 82% of patients will notice an improvement within a week of their initial treatment.

Side effects tend to be minimal, with temporary bruising being the most common. While it is rare for headaches to occur, these usually dissipate within 24 to 48 hours.

Vampire Breast Lift Procedure

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that breast lift procedures are increasing. It has been found that the demand for these is at twice the rate of breast implant surgeries. One of the primary reasons for this may be due to the vampire breast lift, which is a less-invasive approach to breast augmentation.

Vampire breast lifts usually take no longer than 15 minutes. During this procedure, a physician draws the patient’s blood, extracts the platelet-rich plasma, and then injects it into their breasts.

Given technological advances and the availability of less-invasive cosmetic procedures, it is expected that more individuals will seek these and other types of treatments. Furthermore, since recovery times are shorter and there are minimal side-effects, it is expected that these treatments will continue to experience an increased demand.
