Exercise is hugely important to living a healthy lifestyle, there is really no doubt about it. Not only can exercise help you to gain some self confidence surrounding your body and your overall appearance, it will immensely improve your health as well. From reducing your risks of obesity to improving your overall strength, there are many ways that exercise – particularly regular exercise, for that matter – can have a huge benefit in your life as a whole.
Unfortunately, far too few people are getting the exercise that they need, with only just under 5% of all adults in the United States alone getting even just a mere half of an hour of exercise on a daily basis. In addition to this, less than half of this same group of people is meeting the weekly recommended guidelines for exercise. It should come as no surprise then that only just about one fifth of all adults are getting as much exercise as they really should be. The vast majority of the adult population in the United States are living very sedentary lifestyles, to say the very least.
And this is not just a problem seen among adults. Unfortunately, it has also been estimated that only around one third of all minor children are getting up and moving for the recommended amount of time as well. As a direct result, childhood obesity rates are skyrocketing with a health impact that is all too likely to carry over into their adult years. Fortunately, there are many steps that parents can take to mitigate the risk of such things happening to their children.
For one thing, it’s important to set your children up for success. Limiting electronic usage is one way to do this. After all, the average child now spends up to seven and a half hours using screens alone – all within the course of just one single day. There is no doubting how hugely detrimental this can be, and how much it is promoting the living of an overwhelmingly sedentary lifestyle. Therefore, having restrictions put on screen usage is something that can be beneficial in the life of just about any child – and is something that just about any parent out there will be able to do.
In addition to this, signing up your child for a sport or even a class can also be a great way to get them up and moving. Gymnastics classes have become particularly prevalent, with up to four and a half million children (more than that, even) who are at or over the age of six now participating in gymnastics classes to some extent, at least according to the data that as gathered back in the year of 2017. And even younger children can hugely benefit from gymnastics, as kids who fall between the ages of two and five should be practicing skills like tumbling, throwing and catching, running and more on a regular basis. Gymnastics classes can help to make this a reality.
Of course, you’ll want to ensure that the gymnastics studio you choose has everything that it needs in order to be successful. For instance, tumbling mats are an absolute must. Tumbling mats, which are also often known as crash mats or even just gymnastics mats, can help to keep children safe as they are learning the basics of gymnastics. After all, with the development of any physical skill there will be missteps, and tumbling mats that are being properly used can help to prevent severe injury from ever occurring in such cases. Therefore, the use of tumbling mats is quite important indeed. In some cases, tumbling mats will even be found in the form of interlocking floor mats, which can be used to provide as much safe coverage of the floor as is possible.
At the end of the day, getting your kid up and moving can be difficult. Fortunately, going to a gymnastics center with tumbling mats and other such resources can help to get them enthused about physical movement, something that is important in just about every single one of our lives, to say the very least.
