Thinning hair and hair loss affect most people as they grow older. There are also some genetic and individual factors that can lead to noticeable hair loss, including stress, injury and illness. These can affect both men and women, but fortunately, male and female hair loss specialists have developed methods to restore hair based on new technology.
Aging and hair loss
There are many factors behind hair loss. It is part of the normal aging process. Hair loss begins in the 30s, though it may not show for a while. By the time they are 35 years old, as many as two-thirds of all American men will have experienced appreciable hair loss. By age 50, the number of men showing significant hair loss rises to 85%. Apart from aging, hair loss can also occur because of other factors.
Stress, illness, injury, and genetic factors all play a role in the onset of hair loss and baldness. These factors affect both men and women. Hair loss and thinning hair can have a very strong and negative impact on people’s lives, affecting their self-confidence and self-image.
New hair restoration treatments
Hair loss specialists have a number of new methods to restore hair, for both men and women. Methods like FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction are used by both male and female hair loss specialist to transplant hair to areas of the scalp that have thinning hair. In the FUE hair transplant procedure, naturally occurring hair groupings of four to five, known as individual follicular units, are “harvested” from areas of the scalp where they are plentiful. These are then grafted to the areas with thinning hair. The whole procedure takes about eight hours.
FUE has many advantages over older hair restoration methods. It is minimally invasive, and doesn’t leave any scars. There are fewer complications, and recovery time is shorter than older methods like FUSS. The hair grafts take quickly and there is a little redness on the scalp which vanishes in a few days. With FUE transplants, the restored hair has a more natural look, and it can be worn in shorter styles.
Hair loss can be a problem for both men and women, affecting their self-image and social interactions. Methods like FUE transplants are used by male and female hair loss specialists to restore hair to area where it is thinning, for a natural-looking full head of hair.
