Many things have changed dramatically in the medical field over the last few decades. There is no question that technology has greatly been enhanced and the application of that enhanced technology has helped many people move forward on the road to healing and recovery.
What has also changed over the last several years has been the manner and method by which everyday care and emergency care alike have been carried out. A decade ago, if you had thought about going to a medical clinic for some kind of treatment, you likely would have thought that was the only option because you were too far away from a real hospital or doctor’s office. They might not have been equipped to handle much more than basic problems. These days, that is not the case at all.
The need for more medical clinic facilities around the country is the result of a number of things. One of those things is a simple fact that people are living longer these days. The Baby Boomer generation is aging and they are in large number. At present, 10% of Baby Boomers report that their physical activity is limited to only a few days per month and by the year 2030, it is estimated that 60% of all Baby Boomers will be managing some type of chronic condition. There is a need to meet these patients where they are, to give them the kind of medical care they need no matter where they might find themselves on their travels or elsewhere.
If someone is traveling and they are also trying to manage a chronic condition, having a medical clinic close by will give them great comfort. These clinics are staffed by competent nurses and doctors who often have extended hours. Everything from X-rays to physical therapy is being done in medical clinic facilities throughout the country. It is estimated that 3 million people visit some kind of urgent care medical clinic every week, according to a study done by the Urgent Care Association of America.
Knowing that a medical clinic is out there for you is a great thing for any number of reasons, but right off the top, here are three.
1. It is convenient.
Having a medical clinic near you and open extended hours is a very convenient thing. You can make your appointments around your schedule and, in the case of an emergency, be a walk in if need be. Plus, 85% of urgent care clinics are open seven days a week.
2. It is fast.
There is an average wait time of only 15 minutes for most cases and most visits last less than an hour, getting you back out to your life as quickly as possible.
3. It is equipped for almost every need.
These days, the urgent care business isn’t just to hold you off until you can see your own doctor. many of these facilities see patients on a regular basis and are their primary doctors. These offices are equipped for treating all manner of medical problems, from colds and flu to fractures and sprains.
The medical community is moving forward and the medical clinic is its method.
