Contact Lens Manufacturers Connecting People with Clarity

It is a beautiful world we live in. However for countless individuals, it can literally be difficult to see. Not everyone is born with the gift of perfect vision, and there are many things in the everyday world that contribute to the worsening of an individual’s eyesight over time, from excess screen time or dim lighting to the inevitable changes that come with age. Luckily we live in a day and age that allows just about everyone to see the wonderful world for what it is, and as the science and technology continue to advance, perhaps one day every single person on the planet will have that chance.

How contact lens manufacturers are making a difference

There are times that individuals with less than perfect eyesight do not even realize that they could have the chance to see the world so much more clearly. This is why regular sight screenings, especially from a young age, are important, as are regular visits with your eye doctor. Once that vision issue is identified, the process of correcting it can begin. Whether with the use of eyeglasses, contact lenses, or corrective surgery, seeing the world with more clarity can become an exciting reality.

Many people will opt for contacts before stepping up to an invasive surgery, and some never feel the need to get surgery, or are not good candidates for surgery for one reason or another. Contact lens manufacturers provide the optical supply for a demand that will likely not be subsiding any time soon.

Providing optical supplies for those who want to see the world

There are several key players in the process of getting a person to see more clearly. From the mechanics putting together the screening machines to the eye doctors doing the assessments and diagnoses to the contact lens manufacturers, the intricate system in place is a series of complex behind the scenes steps. Optical suppliers such as contact lens manufacturers and contact lens distributors offer very valuable services. Wearers of contact lenses have the benefit of corrected vision without the bother of an added accessory to maintain throughout the day.

Glasses or contacts?
While wearing eyeglasses can be just as beneficial as wearing contacts when it comes to corrected vision, there are times that contact lenses are simply more ideal. Weather can be an issue for individuals wearing glasses, as anyone who has had their glasses fog up when entering a room from the cold can testify to. Glasses do not come equipped with wipers for those rainy days, and not everyone opts for tinted glasses, so even sunny days can be rough. Is it better to see a blurry world through shades, or a sharp and clear world only to be blinded by the sun? Wearing contact lenses removes that issue altogether.

The widespread need for correctional lenses

Sometimes an individual’s impaired vision is not severe enough for them to notice without an optical test. But often this is not the obstacle. There are around 14 million Americans, 12 years old and above, who report having a visual impairment that can be identified as distance visual acuity of 20/50 or worse than that. Of those individuals, 11 million of them could have their vision improved to 20/40 or even better with refractive correction such as glasses, contacts, or surgery. However, a significant issue within the United States is the lack of health insurance. And those who do have health insurance often do not have coverage for vision care.

But the need for proper vision care is certainly prevalent. There are 1.6 million people in the U.S. over the age of 50 who have macular degeneration, a condition that affects the central vision field. Of people over the age of 40, 2.2 million individuals, or about 2%, have glaucoma, and another 16%, or 20.5 million, have cataracts. But it is not just the over-40 crowd that has visual issues. There are 5.3 million individuals over the age of 18 who have diabetic retinopathy.

There are plenty of visual needs, and providing contacts is just one solution. Find out more about this topic here.
